The Ford Bronco is back after a 25 year hiatus and it’s already a huge success as the company can’t keep up with demand.
That begs the question, which classic SUV should be revived next? There’s no shortage of answers, but we’ll look at some of the contenders here.
One of the most talked about is a successor to the classic Chevrolet K5 Blazer and GMC Jimmy. Part pickup and part SUV, the models featured a removable roof, V8 power and plenty of off-road capability.

While there have been rumors about the Jimmy’s return, we haven’t heard much on that front since a 2019 report suggesting the model could return and be based on the next-generation Canyon. It remains to be seen if that will come to fruition, but we hope GMC’s off-road plans aren’t limited to the pricey Hummer revival.
Speaking of GM, it’d be nice to see a successor to either the Chevrolet TrailBlazer SS or GMC Typhoon. This seems doubtful, but it’s about time someone challenge the Dodge Durango SRT and SRT Hellcat as well as the Jeep Grand Cherokee SRT and Trackhawk.
Sticking with American brands, a Ramcharger revival could be interesting if the company remained faithful to the original that was built between 1974 and 1993 (1996 in Canada and Mexico). However, judging by how soulless the 2022 Jeep Wagoneer and Grand Wagoneer are, this one might be better off dead.
That brings us to another fan favorite, the Toyota FJ Cruiser which was inspired by the original Land Cruiser. Despite being discontinued in 2014, the model remains popular and low mileage examples are worth a small fortune. In fact, Carvana is asking $45,590 for one with 24,207 miles (38,957 km) on the odometer.
Toyota is aware of the interest in the FJ Cruiser and it’s often brought up after-hours at press events. Unfortunately, the company has been non-committal about a return.
While those are just some examples, let us know what you’d like to see in the comments below.
