Earlier today, we said that Great Wall Motors King Kong Supercar Pickup takes the crown for the weirdest debut at the Guangzhou Auto Show. We take that back now that we’ve seen what Roewe had in store for us at the show.
The Chinese brand’s offering is a concept that may be the perfect counterpoint to famed Marsian colonizer wannabe, Elon Musk. Called Clever Mars edition, it’s a special roadster version of the company’s little EV.
Finished in bright green and black, the diminutive EV was packed to the gills with baby aliens, fluffy rocket ships, and even a mini astronaut thanks to the lack of roof. In place, seemingly, of a soft top, Roewe added a parcel tray big enough for everything you’d need on an interplanetary sojourn.
To prepare it for the rugged terrain, the Clever also gets a body kit with wide wheel arches, custom wheels (the fronts in the same black and green as the body), chunky all-terrain tires, and mudflaps.

Inside the standard seats are replaced with sporty bucket seats, and the steering wheel has gotten the same treatment as the rest of the car with its top chopped off. The rest has been finished in the same color scheme as the exterior of the car.
Power, we assume, because Roewe hasn’t revealed anything about the car’s specs, would come from an electric powertrain with Martian tech. The standard car gets with a 49.6 hp (50.3 PS/37 kW) motor that makes 74 lb-ft (100 Nm) of torque. It does, however, return a pretty reasonable 188 miles (302 km) of range on the NEDC test cycle.
Whether this stuffed astronaut will ever meet the one sailing through the cosmos in Tesla’s Roadster remains to be seen but from down here they can at least meet more earthlings.
