The very first 2021 Honda Civic Type R Limited Edition that landed in the United States has sold for a remarkable $102,000 in an online auction.

The Civic Type R Limited Edition is the ultimate variant of the outgoing hot hatch. Just 600 examples are destined for U.S. shores and this example is #001. The Bring a Trailer listing where the car was sold says the seller acquired it in October 2021 and that it has only been driven 16 miles.

Interestingly, the original owner of the car didn’t actually purchase it. In fact, the car was given away through a sweepstake organized by Omaze and American Honda Motor Co. a couple of months ago. The competition attracted entries from more than 41,000 people, raising over $500,000 to support the Thurgood Marshall College Fund (TMCF).

While the winner walked away with the keys to a very special Honda, they clearly couldn’t resist the temptation to sell it and walk away with a load of cash.

All Civic Type R Limited Edition models are painted in Phoenix Yellow and come standard with 20-inch forged BBS wheels finished in matte black and shod in 245/30 Michelin Pilot Sport Cup 2 tires. The exterior also features a handful of red accents, including on the front and rear splitters, side skirts, and the wheels.

Various other modifications were made, including the removal of the rear wiper, rear cargo cover, rear air conditioning vents, and some of the noise insulation materials in order to reduce the car’s weight.
