The new Genesis GV60 is the brand’s first-ever EV and YouTuber Asian Petrolhead recently had the opportunity to test it out.
Genesis is embarking on an all-electric future and from 2025, will only be building EVs. The GV60 is the first of its electric models and shares its Electric-Global Modular Platform (E-GMP) with the Hyundai Ioniq 5 and Kia EV6. While its underpinnings aren’t bespoke, it does feel different enough from its more affordable siblings to justify its more premium price tag.

The GV60 tested by Asian Petrolhead was the Performance model and was equipped with a 77.4 kWh battery pack and 214 hp electric motors at the front and rear, combining to produce 429 hp and 446 lb-ft (605 Nm) of torque. This variant also offers a ‘Boost Mode’ that increases torque to 700 Nm for 10 seconds at a time. The YouTuber notes that the GV60 feels much quicker than the Ioniq 5 and EV6 models he has tested, although he mentions that he hasn’t driven the flagship EV6 GT yet.
Unlike the Ioniq 5 and EV6, the Genesis GV60 uses cameras instead of traditional wing mirrors. These cameras send live images through two screens in the cabin and they appear to work very well. Another unique aspect of the GV60’s interior is the Crystal Sphere shifter that spins around when the vehicle is ready to be driven. This shifter is unlike any other in the automotive industry and the YouTuber is a big fan of it.
