The Petersen Automotive Museum announced that it is preparing a new exhibit that focuses entirely on the latest definition of ultra-high-performance vehicles. “Hypercars: The Allure of the Extreme” will have a rotating cast of 30 vehicles on display in the museum.

“Hypercars are a glimpse of the future today,” said Petersen Automotive Museum Executive Director Terry L. Karges. “With this extensive exhibit, we want to nail down what a hypercar is while giving guests the opportunity to view some of the rarest and most luxurious vehicles available.”

So far, the museum has confirmed that the exhibit will feature the Aria FXE concept, the Bugatti Veyron 16.4, the Caparo T1, the Devel Sixteen, the Ferrari LaFerrari Aperta, the Hennessey Venom F5 (Design Model), the Koenigsegg Agera RS Final Edition, the Laraki Sahara, the McLaren Speedtail, the NIO EP9, the Delage D12, the Pagani Huayra Hermes Edition, the RAESR Tachyon Speed, and the Rimac Concept One.

The Czinger 21C, recent claimer of the Laguna Seca lap record, will also make occasional, brief appearances, and will be on display for the last two weeks of December. The Petersen Museum also plans to include two motorcycles it feels fit the description of hypercar, including the Lotus C-01 and the Aston Martin AMB 001.

According to the museum, the term “hypercar” is used for vehicles that exist at the highest echelon of performance, technological advancement, price, and rarity. It is exhibiting cars from both high-end marques and smaller startups, with a focus on their performance, technology, and beauty.

Hypercars: The Allure of the Extreme will be located in the Bruce Meyer Family Gallery and the museum lobby and is set to run from Saturday, December 4, 2021, until September 22, 2022. A second wave of vehicles is set to arrive on September 17, 2022, and leave on May 14, 2023.
