A British tuner has just completed work on what could be the world’s most powerful BMW 430d.
Modifying a diesel-powered BMW 4-Series may seem a little bizarre but like BMW’s petrol-powered straight-six engines, the N57N powertrain of the 430d is quite receptive to modifications. In standard form, it delivers 255 hp and an impressive 413 lb-ft (560 Nm) of torque but thanks to some serious mechanical upgrades, this 430d now has as much torque as a big diesel pickup truck.

Darkside Developments is the company behind the car and first upgraded it for the customer to the point where it pumped out 382 hp and around 550 lb-ft (745 Nm) of torque at the flywheel. That wasn’t enough for the owner so they sent the car back to the tuner for some additional work.
The sleek two-door now features a custom turbocharger, a high-pressure fuel pump, upgraded fuel injections, unique camshafts, and bespoke downpipes. The ECU is also tuned, as is the eight-speed automatic transmission that the car has.
The results of these modifications is 454.7 hp at the flywheel and an incredible 750 lb-ft (1,016 Nm) of torque. This means the 430d almost has twice the horsepower and twice the torque that it left the factory with and utterly transforms the way that it drives. In fact, the car is eager to spin up its rear wheels even in third gear due to the huge horsepower and torque figures.
