A stunning 2001 Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution VI Tommi Makinen Edition has been listed up for auction in the UK and could prove to be one of the most expensive Evo models sold.
The VI is one of the most iconic generations of the Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution and the limited-run Tommi Makinen Edition is the most sought-after variant. It was launched to celebrate the four consecutive World Rally Championship titles of Makinen and just a few thousand examples were produced (an official number is hard to verify). Of those built, 250 were officially imported to the UK.

This particular example is one of just 50 sold in the UK that was painted in Canal Blue and retains its standard white Enkei alloy wheels. It has only been driven 25,000 miles (40,2000 km) and Silverstone Auctions expects it to fetch between £60,000 ($81,700) and £70,000 ($95,395).
The listing reveals the car was purchased new on February 9, 2001 from Ralliart dealership Mill Lane Mitsubishi and upgraded with a Magnex exhaust, a new ECU, and a red coachline. The original owner later sold the car and purchased a Mitsubishi Space Wagon from the same dealership but just a few months later, he decided to buy back the Evo TME. The original owner kept the car until 2013 when he sold it to his son-in-low.
A number of modifications have been made by the current owner. These include a 3-inch front pipe, 3-inch de-cat, Walbro 255 fuel pump, metal Evo 9 recirc valve, Zaklee clear timing belt cover, Gates Racing Kevlar timing and balance shaft belts, HKS mushroom filter, upgraded Samco hoses, Girodisc brake pads, an Apexi boost controller, an ECU remap, carbon fiber hood, and a steering wheel that has been re-trimmed in Alcantara. The listing adds the car has been tuned to safely deliver 350 hp.
