For the past 18 months, professional drifter Ryan Tuerck and his team have been building one of the most insane drift cars ever designed. Work on the car has now been completed.

Tuerck is no stranger to wild drift car builds and also owns a Toyota GT 86 fitted with the 4.5-liter V8 of a Ferrari 458 Italia. For his latest project, he wanted he wanted an even more extraordinary engine and opted for a Formula 1-derived V10 from Judd.

The engine in question is known as the GV4 V10 and is naturally aspirated, displaces 4.0 liters, and was used in a number of vehicles that competed in the Sports Racing World Cup in the late 1990s and early 2000s. Judd has been building the same basic V10 for more than three decades and some of them have been used in F1. The engine weighs just 145 kg (320 lbs), revs to 11,000 rpm, develops 730 hp, and can go around 2,000 miles (3,200 km) between rebuilds.

Much more than the engine was changed in creating this Toyota Supra drift car. All of the standard body panels have been removed and been replaced with lightweight carbon fiber parts. The car’s tracks have also been widened and the suspension and steering systems have been overhauled. Coupled to the Judd V10 is a Hollinger sequential transmission driving the rear wheels.

The videos below show the car starting up for the very first time and as you’d imagine, it sounds absolutely insane. We can only begin to imagine what it will look and sound like when it actually hits the track.
