Toyota has sold 50 million units of the Corolla between 1966 and 2021, and in order to celebrate this noteworthy milestone for the world’s best-selling nameplate, it launched the Corolla “50 million edition” in Japan.
The special edition is available in Corolla (four-door sedan), Corolla Sport (five-door hatchback), and Corolla Touring (estate) flavors. The sedan and the estate come fitted with 17-inch aluminum wheels shod in 215/45R17 tires, while the hatchback gets 16-inch aluminum wheels with 205/55R16 tires, with both of them finished in matte black. Other unique exterior touches include the glossy black lower grilles, rear spoiler, and the “50 Million Edition” badges on the front fenders.

According to the official brochure which we had a hard time translating from Japanese to English, the color palette includes the Army Rock Metallic, Slate Gray Metallic, Platinum White Pearl Mica, Precious Metal, Attitude Black Mica, and Black mica, with some of them optionally combined with a black roof.
Inside, you’ll find more “50 Million Edition” badges and special trim options including synthetic leather upholstery with red, orange, or gold stitching. Additionally, the Rezatec material on the seats eliminates static electricity from the passenger’s clothes. Standard equipment includes the 9-inch infotainment touchscreen, 6 speakers, air purification system, and several ADAS.

The special edition is fitted with Toyota’s hybrid system comprising of the naturally aspirated 1.8-liter engine and an electric motor. The combined power output is 121 hp (90 kW / 122 PS) transmitted to the front wheels through a CVT gearbox. There is also an all-wheel-drive E-Four variant with the same exact output, but it’s only available in combination with the sedan and estate body styles.
At the moment, the Corolla 50 Million Edition is only available in the Japanese market with prices starting from ¥2,830,000 ($24,771) for the Corolla Sport, from ¥2,835,000 ($24,814) for the Corolla, and from ¥2,884,500 ($25,248) for the Corolla Touring.
