Call me old-fashioned but there aren’t many electric vehicles out there that actually excite me to drive and experience. Of the few that there are, the 2022 Hyundai Ioniq 5 is one of them and we will be driving one for the next week.
Hyundai sells the Ioniq 5 in Australia in one trim level with two available powertrains. Sitting at the base of the range is a two-wheel drive model with a single electric motor that delivers 214 hp and 258 lb-ft (350 Nm) of torque. It starts from AU$71,900 ($52,400) and is been joined by an AWD variant with 302 hp and 446 lb-ft (605 Nm) of torque that’s priced from AU$75,900 ($55,300).

We’ll be driving the AWD variant and want you to send us as many questions as possible that you have about the car. We’ll endeavor to answer them after our review.
No doubt one of the most common questions we’ve already seen about the Ioniq 5 is whether or not it is as good as the Tesla Model 3, which has quickly established itself as the benchmark for semi-affordable EVs. We’ve sampled a couple of Model 3s in our time and are also intrigued to see how the Hyundai matches up. Admittedly, it is quite a bit larger than the Tesla but it will be interesting to see how the fit and finish compares, as well as how its technology stacks up.
So, with this in mind, fire away with your questions below.
