Two Nissan Automobile Colleges in Japan have joined forces to create a retro-inspired concept based on the 2008-2020 Nissan 370Z.
Set to debut at the Tokyo Auto Salon, the one-off model features an old school design that closely echoes the original Z car that was sold in Japan as the Nissan Fairlady Z and in other markets, as the Datsun 240Z, and then as the 260Z and 280Z. The students have named it the 340Z by combining the names and codenames of the original model (S30) and the 370Z (Z34).
As you can see, the coupe has been equipped with an all-new front end that features a retro-inspired fascia complete with a chrome bumper. The team has also installed modified front fenders and circular headlights that recall those found on the original.

Continuing further back, we can see 340Z side stripes and 18-inch wheels wrapped in Michelin Pilot Sport 4 tires. They’re joined by a prominent rear spoiler, old school taillights, and a black rear fascia. The model also has a stacked four-tailpipe exhaust system and a shiny rear bumper.
Interior pictures weren’t released, but a listing for the car said the cabin has “been changed to the Z34.” That’s the designation for the latest Z car, so this suggests the concept will have a modern cockpit that features a digital instrument cluster as well as an 8- or 9-inch infotainment system.
A 3.7-liter V6 resides under the hood and produces 331 hp (247 kW / 336 PS) and 269 lb-ft (365 Nm) of torque. It’s connected to an automatic transmission as the listing notes, “Today’s young people often get an AT license rather than an MT license.”
