Fiat has released an updated version of its Brazilian market Fiorino, a small commercial van that shares its name but not much else with the unrelated European variant that is a sister model to PSA’s Citroën Nemo and Peugeot Bipper LCVs.
Based on the underpinnings of the local market Uno hatch, the 2022 Fiorino has received a series of improvements to keep it up to date, including minor cosmetic, tech and powertrain updates.
Thanks to a redesigned but still unpainted bumper, the 2022 Fiorino’s front end has a more serious look, with a more conventional grille housing Fiat’s new emblem. The headlights are also slightly different while the hood is more sculpted. The profile and the rear end are identical to the outgoing model, with the exception of the slightly smaller Fiat logo.

Inside, there is a new instrument cluster with an LCD screen for the trip computer, and a new dashboard derived from the new Fiat Strada pickup. Unlike the latter, the Fiorino doesn’t come with an infotainment screen since it is a budget-oriented offering.
New features include more comfortable seats with wear-resistant upholstery, four additional storage compartments (a total of 13), redesigned door cards with more space for the elbows, and an improved air conditioning system that allows for 18 percent faster cooling of the two-seater cabin. Standard equipment is pretty basic, including hydraulic steering, air conditioning, height-adjustment driver’s seat, electric windows, remote locking, alarm, ESC, traction control, Hill Holder, and fog lights.

Under the bonnet, there is an updated naturally-aspirated 1.4 EVO Flex engine allowing for lower fuel consumption – up to 11.8 percent less gasoline, or 8.3 percent less ethanol. The motor produces slightly less power than before with 84 hp on gasoline and 86 hp on ethanol, and 120 Nm (88.5 lb-ft) of torque.
Power is transmitted to the front axle through a reworked five-speed manual transmission. Other technical changes include the rear suspension that is derived from the Fiat Strada. The Fiat Fiorino has a cargo capacity of 650 kg (1,433 pounds).
The facelifted Fiat Fiorino is already available in Brazil starting from 99,990 Brazilian Real ($17,583). In the near future, it is expected to reach other markets in Latin America, with the identical RAM Promaster Rapid receiving the same updates.
