2022 Mazda CX-9 Gains Standard All-Wheel Drive And New Touring Plus Trim

The model year updates continue at Mazda as the company has announced a handful of changes for the 2022 CX-9.

The biggest news is a newly standard all-wheel drive system, which explains why the base price has climbed from $34,160 to $35,280. However, this is actually a savings of $780 when compared to last year’s all-wheel drive variant.

The updates don’t stop there as the 2022 CX-9 now offers a Touring Plus trim for $41,660. It builds on the CX-9 Touring with the Premium package and features a slightly revised exterior with a gloss black grille, aluminum roof rails, and 20-inch alloy wheels with a black metallic finish. Buyers will also find an upgraded interior with heated / ventilated front seats, a frameless rearview mirror, and a power driver’s seat with a memory function.

The model also comes equipped with leather upholstery, a 12-speaker Bose audio system, a wireless smartphone charger, and a moonroof. Other highlights include a power liftgate, a keyless entry system, an auto-dimming rearview mirror with HomeLink, and a 10.25-inch infotainment system.

The 2022 Mazda CX-9 will arrive at U.S. dealerships this winter and all models are equipped with a turbocharged 2.5-liter Skyactiv-G four-cylinder engine that is paired to a six-speed automatic transmission. The engine develops 227 hp (169 kW / 230 PS) and 310 lb-ft (420 Nm) of torque on regular 87 octane gasoline, but that climbs to 250 hp (186 kW / 253 PS) and 320 lb-ft (433 Nm) of torque on premium.
