Carbon Editions have proven popular with consumers, so Mazda is expanding their 2022 lineup to include an all-new Mazda3 2.5 S Carbon Edition.
Available as a sedan and hatchback, the Mazda3 2.5 S Carbon Edition slots near the middle of the lineup and features a Polymetal Gray exterior with gloss black mirrors as well as black 18-inch alloy wheels.
Moving into the cabin, buyers will find additional equipment including red leather seats and a 12-speaker Bose audio system with aluminum grilles. The rest of the equipment carries over from the 2.5 S Preferred and this means there’s a power moonroof, a power driver’s seat, and heated front seats. Other niceties include a dual-zone automatic climate control system, a passive entry system, rain-sensing wipers, and an infotainment system with an 8.8-inch display.

Motivation is provided by a familiar 2.5-liter Skyactiv-G four-cylinder engine that produces 186 hp (139 kW / 189 PS) and 186 lb-ft (252 Nm) of torque. It’s connected to a six-speed automatic transmission, which sends power to the front wheels.
The 2022 Mazda3 2.5 S Carbon Edition starts at $26,400 and climbs to $27,400 for the hatchback.
Putting the Carbon Edition aside, the rest of the Mazda3 lineup largely carries over. However, a handful of variants – including the Mazda3 2.5 S Select, Preferred, Premium and Turbo – can be equipped with a newly available Platinum Quartz Metallic paint job.
Pricing also climbs for the 2022 model year as the entry-level Mazda3 2.0 now begins at $20,800 which is $150 more than last year. Unfortunately, there are bigger price increases elsewhere in the lineup and the 2022 Mazda3 2.5 Turbo sedan climbs $500 to $30,550.
Note: Prices exclude a $1,015 for destination and handling fee ($1,060 in Alaska)
