Audi will make it right this holiday season, offering Charlene Rubush the Q3 she lost on a technicality during an episode of Wheel of Fortune aired earlier this week.
In a moment that ended up going viral, the Rubush was competing in the final puzzle of the broadcast, trying to guess the phrase “Choosing the right word.” She was, ironically, struggling with the final word of the phrase, when, in the process of working it out, she paused after saying “choosing the right” and said “word” just before the buzzer sounded to tell her that time was up.
Unfortunately, she paused for a moment too long in the eyes of the Wheel of Fortune judges and host Pat Sajak explained that “You know, this one’s tough because you said all the right words, including the word ‘word.’ But as you know, it’s got to be more or less continuous.”

The clip ended up going viral, with many bemoaning the injustice of the contestant solving the puzzle and losing her prize on a questionable technicality. All of which caught Audi’s attention and, following internal conversations, they decided to ignore the judges and just give Rubush a Q3 anyway.
Doing that, though, turned into a bit of a puzzle in itself. Roadshow reports that actually finding Rubush proved quite difficult for Audi. The contestant, evidently, isn’t very active on social media.
But, by putting out a call to fans on its social media pages and getting into contact with Rubush’s relatives, they eventually managed to track her down.
“In the spirit of the holidays, we are thrilled to gift Charlene with an all-new Audi Q3,” said Tara Rush, Audi’s chief marketing officer, in a statement. “It is the season of giving after all and, technicality or not, we are always eager to share a bit of Audi magic and cheer!”
You're a winner in our eyes, Charlene. Now, let's get you a prize. Time to #GiveHerTheQ3. https://t.co/x0e3j1CqY9
