DS has added a new variant to its DS 9 lineup with the E-Tense 250 which introduces more power to the FWD DS 9, as well as adding more range and reduced CO2 emissions.
Power comes from a PureTech four-cylinder engine that makes 197 hp (200 PS/145 kW), paired to a 107 hp (109 PS/80 kW) electric motor. The latter is powerful enough to get the DS 9 up to 135 km/h (84 mph) on electricity alone. With the engine, though, it can get all the way up to an electronically limited top speed of 240 km/h (149 mph).
The motor is powered by a new 15.6 kWh battery that features the same amount of cells as the DS 9 E-Tense 225, but allows the DS 9 E-Tense 250 up to go 70 km (43 miles) in the city and up to 61 km (38 miles) in mixed driving conditions, according to the WLTP test cycle.

That same testing cycle rates the DS 9 E-Tense 250 as emitting just 26g/km of CO2 and, more impressively, consuming just 1.1 liter/100 km (214 mpg) of fuel. Those figures give the sedan advantages in France, including an exemption from the first component of company car tax, a battery cost deduction, and an exemption from the “weight surcharge” that is coming into effect in 2022.
The DS 9 E-Tense 250 will be offered in two trim levels, Performance Line + and Rivoli +. The first offers a Black Alcantara interior with gold stitching, DS Performance LIne badges on the front doors, DS Wings, and a chrome trunk strip. A gloss black grille also gets a DS Performance Line logo and the wheels are 19-inch alloys.
The Rivoli+, meanwhile, is inspired by the Tuileries quarter of Paris and combines diamond-shaped premium trim that is available in three configurations. Quality materials are the focus for this trim, and everything, even the grab handles are covered in leather.
The Performance Line + is offered at 58,000 ($65,620 USD at current exchange rates) in France, while the Rivoli + starts at 60,900 ($68,901 USD).
