ElectraMeccanica has announced plans to show three different versions of their Solo EV at CES.
The company didn’t say much about the models, but one of them is being billed as an “all-new, conceptual refresh.”
Presumably designed to preview a facelifted variant, the concept will be equipped with a redesigned dashboard as well as touchscreen displays. The company didn’t release pictures, but said the changes will “improve and optimize” the overall driver experience.

Solo Cargo
ElectraMeccanica will also display the Solo Cargo, which sees the model’s hatchback replaced by a small cargo box. The vehicle was created with input from prospective customers and has been envisioned for everything from food delivery to municipal fleet use.
They’ll be joined by the Solo O2 concept, which originally debuted at SEMA earlier this year. It’s a convertible, which highlights “what’s possible with next-generation design.”
We’ll see what the company has in store next month, but the Solo was created to redefine personal urban transportation as nearly “80 percent of U.S. daily commutes are done alone in gas-powered passenger vehicles.” The company considers that inefficient and a major environmental concern, so they developed the single-seat Solo to address the issue and fill the “empty space” between scooters and traditional vehicles.
The Solo starts at $18,500 and features a 17.4 kWh lithium-ion battery pack, which provides a range of up to 100 miles (161 km) on a single charge. The battery powers an electric motor that develops 56 hp (42 kW / 57 PS) and 103 lb-ft (140 Nm) of torque. Given those numbers, the three-wheeler’s performance is hardly breathtaking as the dash to 60 mph (96 km/h) takes a little under 12 seconds and the top speed is only 80 mph (129 km/h).
