Ford is preparing another Ford GT Heritage Edition model, this time inspired by Alan Mann Racing. The red, white, and gold liveried car pays homage to one of the automaker’s most fondly remembered collaborators in the ’60s.

Teased in a pair of tweets that show the very front and rear of the car, it will no doubt be stunning to look at. The look is inspired by Alan Mann Racing’s preferred color combination.

The Ford GT Alan Mann Heritage Edition is inspired, specifically, by the lighter, experimental 1966 GT 40 race cars that the team built to help Ford on its mission to win the 24 Hours of Le Mans outright.

Although it wasn’t selected by Ford as the car to enter the race (it opted for the MkII GT40 instead) the experimental car featured light alloy body panels and other modifications. Ford ordered five but only two were ever made.

Whether the modern Ford GT Alan Mann Heritage Edition will feature any lightweighting efforts remains to be seen, but it would be a fitting tribute to the car and, no doubt, a welcome modification for customers.

The Heritage Edition models, though, have not so far featured many modifications, it must be said. The retro-inspired cars have by and large featured classic liveries celebrating the Ford GT 40’s historic successes at races like Le Mans and Daytona.

Alan Mann Racing, meanwhile, is still a race shop that prepares vintage cars today and is run by Alan’s son Henry. In the ’60s, the team earned its reputation by preparing Fords that earned successes at races like the Monte Carlo Rally and the Tour de France Automobile.

It is, unfortunately, unclear at this point when Ford plans to release the GT Alan Mann Heritage Edition, but the teaser would seem to indicate that an unveiling is nigh.
