A number of car manufacturers are reviving classic models and if Honda were to follow suit, it might choose to resurrect the S2000. This video shows us what a modernized S2K could look like.

Acura recently announced the return of the Integra but the new model is quite different compared to its immediate predecessors – not to mention the current hybrid, all-wheel drive NSX that deviates a lot from the formula of its iconic ancestor. In creating his modern-day S2000, designer The Sketch Monkey remained true to the original model and only made a handful of small changes.

The overhauled front fascia of this S2000 immediately catches the eye. While the AP1 and AP2-generation models still look fresh more than two decades after first hitting the market, the sports car looks much more modern with a set of slim, LED headlights with incorporated daytime running lights.

Elsewhere, the front bumper of the S2000 has been altered and now features a more tapered and aggressive front grille flanked by two enlarged air intakes. The Sketch Monkey has also tweaked the side of the Honda with a new air duct behind the front wheels.

In an ideal world, Honda would revive the S2000 with a screaming, naturally-aspirated four-cylinder engine and a six-speed manual just like the original. However, the chances of this happening are extremely unlikely and if the S2000 name ever returns, it would probably be a hybrid or all-electric.
