Japan’s New Impreza Black Accent Edition Celebrates 30th Anniversary Of Subaru Model

Subaru has unveiled a special edition of the Impreza in Japan in order to celebrate the 30 years since the debut of the first generation in 1992. The Impreza 1.6iS EyeSight Black Accent, available in both hatchback and sedan form, arrives together with minor model year updates for the JDM-spec Impreza range.

Visually, the 30th-anniversary edition gets black trim on the grille, mirrors, rear spoiler, and shark-fin antenna, combined with a set of 17-inch aluminum wheels finished in dark metallic. Inside there is gray and black upholstery with silver stitching and piano black accents. Equipment includes the EyeSight Safety Plus with more ADAS features.

The Subaru Impreza 1.6iS EyeSight Black Accent is only available with the naturally aspirated 1.6-liter engine producing 113 hp (85 kW / 115 PS) and 148 Nm (109 lb-ft) of torque. Power is transmitted to either the front wheels or to all four wheels exclusively through Subaru’s Lineatronic CVT transmission. Pricing starts from ¥2,189,000 yen ($19,185).

For 2022, the JDM-spec Impreza gets fabric heated seats for the driver and front passenger (standard on the 2.0iS EyeSight, Advance, and STI Sport), decorative trim on the instrument panel of the 1.6iS EyeSight, the Lagoon Blue Pearl exterior color available for the Advance trim, and the Coll Gray Khaki exterior color available for the STI Sport.

The current, fifth-generation of the Subaru Impreza was introduced in 2016 and received a facelift in 2019.
