Stellantis held their Software Day earlier this week and it was jam-packed with news as the automaker announced an autonomous partnership with BMW, a chip-making tie-up with Foxconn, a usage-based insurance program, and plans to monetize connected vehicles through services and subscriptions.
Now, the company is hinting at what those services and subscriptions could look like in a new video called “Freedom Connected.”
Designed to provide a glimpse at technologies that could be offered in the next generation of Jeep vehicles, the video shows a handful of “concept features” including an off-road navigation system with maps for over 6,000 trails.

The clip also hints at extensive vehicle-to-vehicle communication capabilities, such as a “Group Ride” feature that shows the location of other Jeeps in your riding party as well as information about them. This would be helpful for finding someone who gets lost or broken down on the trail, and the clip also hints at “communication capabilities even without cellular connectivity.”
Another interesting feature is the Augmented Reality Head-Up Display, which essentially projects a digital instrument cluster onto the windscreen. This would be useful both on- and off-road as it would enable drivers to stay informed without having to look down. The video also suggests the HUD could be used to display information outside the vehicle, such as the charging status.
While these are just conceptual features, Stellantis has already confirmed future models will have a digital assistant and, eventually, a proactive digital assistant. Over-the-air updates will also allow future models to improve with age and officials noted they could receive features that haven’t even been thought of yet.
