Classic British sports car brand Morgan is getting ready to pull the covers off its all-new 3 Wheeler and has just unveiled a number of sketches giving us a clue as to how it might look.
Three-wheelers were Morgan’s stock in trade until the late 1930s, and when the company reintroduced the model in 2011, the reborn trike proved to be a massive hit and also helped get Morgan back into the U.S. market.
But the modern 3 Wheeler, which featured an exposed S&S V-twin motorcycle engine, was withdrawn last year because it could no longer meet European emissions regulations, and Morgan has since been working on a new version powered by a more conventional three-cylinder Ford car engine used in the Fiesta.
While Ford’s three-cylinder offerings in the Fiesta range from a naturally-aspirated 1.1 with 74 hp, via various 1.0-liter turbo versions making between 94 and 153 hp, to a 197 hp ST hot hatch, Morgan is going turbo-free for the new 3 Wheeler.

Pictures of a disguised test car taken earlier this year revealed entirely new suspension geometry and an updated design that is clearly referenced by the early age, something also seen in the stillborn battery-powered EV3 3 Wheeler that was shown as a concept in 2016.
But now a series of sketches show in greater detail some of the ideas and themes the company will employ in the design of the new model. Morgan is quick to say that no single sketch in isolation shows how the finished machine will look but confirms that many of the details seen in different sketches will appear on the 2022 3 Wheeler.
Morgan claims the new three-wheeler’s design is “bold and eccentric, taking inspiration from mid-century jet planes, motorcycles, historic Morgan models and modern industrial product design”.
