Nissan Bringing Van Concepts And A Heritage-Inspired Fairlady Z To The Tokyo Auto Salon

The Tokyo Auto Salon kicks off next month and Nissan has announced plans to showcase an assortment of different concepts.

One of the stars of the show will be the all-new Fairlady Z, which is making its Japanese debut at the event. It will be joined by a customized version with “exterior styling elements.” That isn’t much to go on, but the company said the one-off model will be a “nod to the Z’s heritage and fan enthusiasm.”

The automaker will also introduce the Caravan Mountain Base concept, which features an eye-catching exterior with a woodgrain wrap as well as a “tough textured finish.” Elsewhere, there’s an LED light bar and beadlock-style wheels wrapped in meaty tires.

Since the van was designed to be used in remote locations, it comes equipped with a foldout solar panel that is mounted on the roof. The side windows have also been largely replaced by solar panels as well.

The wood theme continues in the cabin as the back of the van has wooden accents on the floor and walls. They’re joined by a ‘floating’ bench seat, a work station, and a “digital fireplace.”

The Caravan Myroom concept goes in a different direction as it has been designed to be a comfortable place to hang out with family and friends. As a result, the interior has been given a “cozy makeover” that sees the van outfitted with a couch, a bed, and plenty of cabinets.

Nissan will also be displaying two customized Note Autechs. One features a lifted suspension and a custom skid plate, while the other has a lowered suspension and a “premium interior.”

Besides the aforementioned models, Nissan will be showing the Ariya, Z GT500 racecar, and GT-R Nismo special edition. They’ll be joined by the Note Aura Nismo and Kicks Columbia Edition, which was developed in collaboration with Columbia Sportswear.
