Porsche has unveiled a special, limited edition of the 911 GT3 designed just for the Australian market. The model is designed to honor the automaker’s 70th anniversary in the country.
The story of Porsche in Australia begins with two 356s, brought to the country in 1951 by Norman Hamilton. That made it the first right-hand-drive market to receive Porsches and the second non-European market, after America, to get the cars.
The 356s were finished in maroon and Fish Silver Grey. That color is celebrated by the new 911 GT3 70 Years Porsche Australia Edition, which is painted in Fish Silver Grey Metallic, a modern interpretation of the color developed by Porsche Exclusive Manufaktur specifically for this model.

Based on the 911 GT3 with the Touring Package, the model features special badging with the nation’s flag, as well as plaid seats and a selection of unique interior design features. Porsche says that this is the first time it has based a market-specific special edition model on a 911 GT product and it’s also the first time a special edition has been made for the Australian market.
The automaker also held an event to celebrate its 70th anniversary in the market that was attended by special guests including former Formula 1 driver and World Endurance Champion Mark Webber. A selection of classic Porsches, including the 356 and the 928, were on display.
Porsche Cars Australia has also created a commemorative book to mark the occasion that tracks its seven decades of existence.
