As 2021 comes to a close, we’re looking ahead and asking our readers what vehicles they’re looking forward to next year.
There’s no shortage of answers, but we’ll highlight a few of the models that will certainly be stars of 2022.
One of the most anticipated is the Ford Bronco Raptor, which aims to mix performance with genuine off-road capability. There will be no mistaking the latter as the model will be distinguished by a FORD-branded grille, a heavy duty front bumper, extended fender flares, and unique wheels wrapped in meaty off-road tires that reportedly measure 37 inches. They’ll be joined by an off-road focused suspension, a dual exhaust system, and numerous other upgrades.

Ford hasn’t said much about the model, but rumors have suggested it will be equipped with either a 3.0- or 3.5-liter EcoBoost V6. The former produces 400 hp (298 kW / 406 PS) and 415 lb-ft (562 Nm) of torque, while the latter develops 450 hp (336 kW / 456 PS) and 510 lb-ft (691 Nm) of torque.
Speaking of powerful off-roaders, the GMC Hummer EV recently went into production and we’ll be driving it shortly. Since the model doesn’t need much of an introduction, we’ll remind you it boasts removable roof panels, an air suspension, and 18-inch wheels wrapped in 35-inch Goodyear Wrangler Territory MT tires.
The truck also comes with an Extract Mode that provides 15.9 inches (404 mm) of ground clearance as well as approach, departure and breakover angles of 49.7°, 38.4° and 32.2° respectively. Other highlights include a CrabWalk function and a four-wheel steering system that enables the pickup to have a turning circle that isn’t much larger than a Chevy Sonic.
Of course, there’s also a tri-motor powertrain that produces a staggering 1,000 hp (746 kW / 1,014 PS). This enables the truck to rocket from 0-60 mph (0-96 km/h) in approximately three seconds and travel more than 350 miles (563 km) on a single charge.
Those are just two examples, but there are countless others including the redesigned BMW 7-Series and Lexus LX. We’re also curious about the electric Porsche Macan, Tesla Cybertruck, Maserati Grecale, and Ferrari Purosangue.
