Compact crossovers are becoming more popular in recent years but the Subaru XV / Crosstrek is already 10 years old. Subaru wanted to celebrate the milestone by unveiling a special edition of the current second-generation XV for the Japanese market.
The Subaru XV Advance Style Edition gets a number of visual touches making it look tougher and sportier. These include a set of dark gun metallic 18-inch alloy wheels, black roof rails, and a gray metallic finish on the skid plates, grille, fog lamp surrounds, mirror caps, roof spoiler, and shark fin antenna. Inside we find portions of black synthetic leather upholstery, contrasting yellow stitching, a leather-wrapped steering wheel, and the full EyeSight Safety Plus suite.

The special edition is exclusively available with the 2.0-liter e-Boxer. The hybrid powertrain consists of a 2.0-liter engine producing 143 hp (107 kW / 145 PS) and 188 Nm (139 lb-ft) of torque, working together with an electric motor producing an additional 13.4 hp (10 kW / 13.6 PS) and 65 Nm (48 lb-ft) of torque. Power is sent to all four wheels through the Lineatronic CVT with the help of the Subaru Symmetrical AWD system.
The Subaru XV Advance Style Edition is already available in the Japanese market with prices starting from ¥2,915,000 ($25,660). Surprisingly this is not the flagship trim level since the even better equipped Advance tops out at ¥3,014,000 ($26,511).

Other updates for the 2022 XV range in Japan include the addition of the sapphire blue pearl exterior color option on the 1.6-liter models and new heated seats with fabric upholstery that come standard in the 2.0-liter models.
The first generation of the Subaru XV was introduced back in 2011 as a crossover sibling to the Impreza, while the second generation arrived in 2017, based on the Subaru Global Platform.
