The 2022 Nissan Kicks Is Still Kicking Around, Just With Higher Prices

The Nissan Kicks is one of the most affordable crossovers in America, but it’s getting more expensive for 2022.

Currently on sale, the model begins at $19,700 before a $1,175 destination charge. That’s $100 more than its predecessor and that price increase is echoed across all three trims.

So what does the extra money get you? Nothing by the looks of it as Nissan didn’t mention any changes.

While that’s disappointing, the entry-level Kicks S is a no frills crossover that comes with 16-inch steel wheels, a keyless entry system, and power windows and locks. They’re joined by air conditioning, cruise control, a six-speaker audio system, and a 7-inch infotainment system with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay compatibility.

Despite being basic, the crossover comes with an assortment of driver assistance systems including automatic emergency braking with pedestrian detection, lane departure warning, and rear automatic braking. They’re joined by a blind spot warning system, rear cross traffic alert, rear parking sensors, and high-beam assist.

The mid-level Kicks SV starts at $21,550 and has a classier exterior with additional body color components, silver roof rails, and 17-inch alloy wheels. The model also trades drum rear brakes for larger, vented discs.

Bigger changes occur in the cabin as drivers will find a larger 8-inch infotainment system and a 7-inch display in the instrument cluster. Other highlights include an automatic climate control system, an intelligent key with a push button ignition, and adaptive cruise control.

Sitting at the top of the range is the Kicks SR, which begins at $22,240. It features a lightly revised exterior with LED headlights, a dark satin chrome grille, and a rear spoiler. The model is also distinguished by black roof rails and gloss black mirrors with integrated turn signals.

The interior largely carries over from the SV, but buyers will find a leather-wrapped steering wheel and an Intelligent Around View Monitor. However, customers can get a $1,200 SR Premium Package that adds Prima-Tex upholstery, heated front seats, a heated steering wheel, and an eight-speaker Bose premium audio system.

Regardless of which trim is selected, all Kicks are powered by a 1.6-liter four-cylinder engine that produces 122 hp (91 kW / 124 PS) and 114 lb-ft (155 Nm) of torque. It’s connected to a continuously variable transmission that sends power exclusively to the front wheels.
