The Oldsmobile 442 was an iconic muscle car and GM decided to pay tribute to the model with a one-off concept based on a 1999 Intrigue.
While the Intrigue wasn’t very intriguing, the same can’t be said about this customized model that was shown at SEMA before becoming a member of the GM Heritage Collection.
Billed as the last 442 ever built, the sedan features an aggressive exterior with a ram air hood and a unique front bumper with intakes designed to recall those used on the 1970 model. If those additions aren’t eye-catching enough, the car has a two-tone paint job and custom wheels designed to “mimic the SSII wheels of the period.”

Continuing out back, we can see a unique rear bumper with cutouts for a sporty dual exhaust system. The 442 also has a custom rear wing with golden accents on the sides.
The interior is relatively plain by comparison as drivers will find two-tone leather seats and unconvincing wood trim. They’re joined by an aftermarket audio system, embroidered headrests, and special “442” floor mats.
While classic 442s were available with a massive 7.5-liter V8 engine, this one has been outfitted with a Cadillac Northstar V8. There’s no word on which version, but the listing says it produces 550 hp (410 kW / 558 PS). It’s paired to an automatic transmission, which presumably sends power to the front wheels.
The car will be auctioned by Mecum next month without reserve. There’s no auction estimate, but there’s little doubt this model will go for much more than your typical Intrigue.
