There were so many remarkable cars that debuted at the recent SEMA Show that it was hard to keep up with them all. One project which slipped under our radar was this awesome 2020 BMW M2 Competition outfitted with a Hellcat engine.
The M2 Competition is widely regarded as one of the German’s automaker’s best performance cars and, in stock form, is powered by a twin-turbocharged 3.0-liter six-cylinder engine with 405 hp and 406 lb-ft (550 Nm) of torque. For most people, that is more than enough grunt but for the owner of Filippo Speed Shop in California, it wasn’t. That’s where the Hellcat engine comes into the equation.

Ever since FCA introduced its flagship 6.2-liter supercharged V8 with the Challenger Hellcat and Charger Hellcat, it has proved exceptionally popular among car builders looking to perform epic engine swaps. Surprisingly, the big V8 actually sits neatly into the engine bay of the M2 Competition, although the owner did have to fit solid engine mounts to help keep it stable. It is pumping out the stock figures of 707 hp and 650 lb-ft (881 Nm) of torque which, apparently, were deemed more than enough.
Coupled to the V8 is a Sadev sequential transmission making this just the second Hellcat-powered car to also have a Sadev gearbox. As the owner describes in the video below, a plethora of other modifications have been made to turn this M2 Competition into a track weapon.
For example, it features StopTech brakes with six-piston calipers at the front and four-piston calipers at the rear. The car also sits on forged 18×10-inch wheels at all four corners and has been fitted with an adjustable suspension as well as front fenders, a hood, roof, trunk lid, and a fixed rear wing all made from carbon fiber.
