For all the super expensive super and hypercars in the world, there is a small coterie of not exactly cheap but moderately-priced sports cars still on sale. CarWow wants to know which is the fastest in a straight line.
The cars in question are the Porsche 718 Cayman GTS, the Alpine A110 S, and the Toyota GR Supra.
The Porsche is powered by a 4.0-liter, naturally aspirated flat-six that makes 414 HP (420 PS/309 kW) and 309 lb-ft (420 Nm) of torque. In this test, it also has a manual six-speed transmission, which can be a disadvantage in a drag race.

The Toyota GR Supra is also rocking six cylinders, albeit they’re arranged in a row here. Provided by BMW, it’s down on power, with 335 hp (340 PS/250 kW), but it has more torque than the Porsche at 369 lb-ft (500 Nm).
The Alpine, meanwhile, is down on power thanks to its comparatively tiny 1.8-liter inline-four. Although it’s mid-mounted like the Porsche and turbocharged like the Toyota, it makes just 288 hp (292 PS/215 kW) and 236 lb-ft (320 Nm) of torque. It is the lightest car of the bunch, though, coming in at 1,114 kg (2,456 lbs). That compares favorably to the Cayman, which weighs 1,405 kg (3,097 lbs), and the Supra, which weighs 1,495 kg (3,296 lbs).
Although those three are quite different, they all perform admirably in all performance tests proving that torque is great, horsepower is also great, and lightness is… well, great as well.
