Remember the Toyota 86 someone fitted with a Ferrari 458 engine a few years back, and how crazy it seemed at the time? Now just imagine how even crazier it would be with a genuine Ferrari Formula 1 engine.
If that sounds like a challenge you’re itching to take up, you need to head over to the Collecting Cars auction website double-quick, where this 2003 F1 engine is currently being offered by a seller in Milan, Italy.
Officially known as the F2003-GA, the last two letters tagged on to honour the recently deceased Fiat boss Gianni Agnelli, this 90-degree V10 has a capacity of 2,997 cc, features four cams and 40 valves, and was apparently capable of producing up to 845 hp at an insane 18,300 rpm in its day.
We’re not sure whether this particular engine ever saw any race action, but this series of engine helped Michael Schumacher see off all challengers to secure his sixth World Drivers’ title, beating Juan Manuel Fangio’s 46 year-old record.

But before you get too carried away with those engine swap plans you should probably know that isn’t exactly a turnkey motor. There are multiple problems to sort before you can drop it into your Toyota 86 besides working out how to see past that outrageous air snorkel.
Although it appears externally fairly complete and even includes a set a beautiful exhaust headers, it’s missing some rather key components, including basically all of its internal components. No doubt you could still turn it into a running motor if you were seriously committed and had plenty of blank cheques, but the reality is it’s probably going to end up as a striking museum piece in a rich dude’s garage.
How rich? Well, maybe not as rich as you might think. Bidding is at a vaguely affordable €16,250 ($18,422) with two days to go. Click here for the listing.
