Aston Martin and Zagato have collaborated on a number of stunning cars over the decades and one you may not have heard of is the original 1986 Aston Martin V8 Vantage Zagato.
Just 50 examples were built and the example in question was delivered to its first owner in 1986. By 1989, it was on to its third owner who was none other actor Rowan Atkinson.
Atkinson was keen to take the car racing so he commissioned Aston Martin Works Service to rebuild it and develop it for the AMOC C2 Class ‘Mildly Modified’ category in the UK. This was the only V8 Zagato that was ever modified by Aston Martin Works.
Among the modifications made to the car include the fitment of new lightweight body panels and Perspex side windows. Elsewhere, the suspension system was re-developed and custom two-way adjustable Koni dampers were fitted alongside Eibach springs. Aston Martin Works also fitted a set of AP Racing brakes that consists of 8-piston calipers at the front and 6-piston calipers at the rear.
Aston Martin Works also modified the V8 with Weber Alpha fuel injection so it now pumps out 482 hp at 7,000 rpm and 412 lb-ft (558 Nm) of torque at 5,500 rpm.

Atkinson drove the car for a decade before parting ways with it. In 2016, it was modified by Nicholas Mee and Co to make it better for road use but things like the lightweight panels and modified engine have remained untouched.
The car has been listed up for sale from Dylan Miles in the UK but no asking price has been made public.
