Last August, Genesis unveiled a slightly updated GV80 in its home market, including the addition of a luxurious six-seater variant. As of January 2022, the six-seat Luxury Package is also available in the Australian market as the flagship trim level of the large SUV, alongside improved specification for the five- and seven-seat models.

The GV80 range is pretty simple in Australia. Customers have four drivetrain options – 2.5T RWD, 2.5T AWD, 3.0D AWD, and 3.5T AWD, all featuring an eight-speed automatic transmission. Besides the standard trim, there is the optional Luxury Package, while the AWD variants have access to the optional six-seat Luxury Package which is another step above in terms of pricing and equipment.

The flagship six-seat Luxury Package includes individual seats on the second row with power slide function, comfortable wing-type headrests, and a one-touch rest mode. The fixed center armrest between them looks rather luxurious thanks to the open-pore real wood trim and incorporates the Genesis Integrated Controller, a wireless smartphone charger, additional ambient lighting, headphone jacks, storage space, and two cupholders. Rear passengers also have access to dual 9.2-inch HD touchscreens mounted on the front seats.

Last but not least, the front passenger seat at the six-seat Luxury Package and the regular Luxury Package gains 18-way power adjustment and Ergo-motion massage functionality, matching the driver’s seat.

Genesis didn’t forget the rest of the range. Hence, all 2022 GV80 models get upgraded front brakes with 380 mm discs and four-piston monobloc calipers that were previously reserved for the 3.5T AWD. Additionally, all variants get the new Intelligent Speed Limit Assist and Recirculation Mode Plus functions, enhanced graphics for the Augmented Reality navigation map mode, updated icons for ADAS, additional unlock buttons at the rear doors (previously only for locking), better-integrated cupholders for the rear passengers, and an extra storage compartment in the second-row armrest.

The 2022 GV80 is available in 10 exterior colors including seven gloss shades for all trims and three matte colors exclusively for the Luxury Package. New for 2022 is the Barossa Burgundy gloss shade borrowed from the GV70. The base price for the Genesis GV80 in Australia is AUD$92,000 ($66,118), referring to the rear-wheel drive variant with the turbocharged 2.5-liter petrol engine.
