Since its public debut as a concept in 2019, the Tesla Cybertruck has split opinions unlike just about any other truck ever. We’ve watched as it’s been slowly and almost painfully developed over the past few years. It’s seen the door handles removed and a gigantic windshield wiper added. It’s also been on the sidelines while electric trucks from Rivian, General Motors, and Ford have walked around it. On January 26, Elon Musk is going to let us in on where the Cybertruck is in its development cycle.

We know that because back in November, Musk replied to a very specific question about the Cybertruck timeline by saying “Oh man, this year has been such a supply chain nightmare and it’s not over! I will provide an updated product roadmap on next earnings call.” That call takes place on January 26. Of course, before this tweet Musk had previously said that he would no longer answer questions on future earnings calls.

Both could be true though. It’s possible that he’ll provide a roadmap and then just not take questions. Either way, we’re excited to hear more about the updated game plan for the world’s boxiest pickup truck concept. Last we heard, production was slated to begin late this year.

Quite honestly, it would be a pretty baller move on Elon’s part if he said something like “oh and Cybertruck deliveries started last week!” Of course, we’d have to rely on Tesla owners keeping that quiet, which we know is something they struggle with. You get the point though, Tesla beating a self-imposed deadline would be great – but not really expected.

Nevertheless, we’re stoked to hear more about the rest of the product lineup too. Musk has been a lot more restrained in recent months so we’re not expecting gigantic news but anything will be interesting.

It’s also possible that Musk might not actually follow through on his November tweet. That’s not to say that he didn’t intend on it at the time, but maybe some things don’t work out as planned. Either way, we’ll be here to report on the latest when that call happens.
