Japanese professional drifter Daigo Saito has been the man behind some pretty insane drift car builds over the years and his latest project features one very special Nissan Skyline.
The car used for this project is a ‘Hakosuka’ Skyline GT-R and is one of the most famed iterations of the iconic sports car. Despite its heritage, Saito has decided to extensively modify both the car’s exterior and interior, as well as what is under the skin.

The most significant upgrade comes in the engine bay where there is now a NASCAR-derived Dodge R5P7 V8 powering the rear wheels. This engine sports individual throttle bodies, is good for roughly 800 hp and is mated to an RTS GForce four-speed transmission.
As for the exterior, it has been resprayed in a striking shade of orange and sports a set of flared front and rear wheel arches to support a set of extremely wide wheels and tires. The Skyline has also been modified with a side-exiting exhaust, various Rocket Bunny parts including the front lip, and a new black bumper. It has also a set of beefed-up brakes from Wilwood.
The Nissan’s interior has also been completely overhauled and has a hydraulic handbrake, a bespoke center console to give the new transmission space, Bride racing seats, and a complete roll cage.
Making this car all the more remarkable is that Saito plans to compete with it in Japan’s D1 Grand Prix drifting championship this year.
