General Motors has ambitious electric vehicle plans, so much so that it believes it can catch Tesla in EV sales by 2025. However, in Q4 2021 its electric car deliveries were abysmal, to say the least.

According to figures released by the automaker, during the fourth quarter of 2021 it delivered a grand total of 26 electric vehicles. These consisted of 25 Bolt EV and Bolt EUV models and a single GMC Hummer EV pickup.

These figures demonstrate just how hard General Motors has been hit by the ongoing recall of the Bolt EV and Bolt EUV and the halt in production. In Q4 2020, GM delivered 6,701 Bolt EV and EUV models but with production now paused, new examples are no longer reaching the hands of customers.

Production of the GMC Hummer EV also only recently started, hence why just a single unit has been delivered.

A Tesla enthusiast account on Twitter shared the news, asserting that GM only “sold” 26 EVs during the fourth quarter, prompting a reply from Elon Musk stating “Room to improve.” What’s not mentioned is that GM also went through a huge battery recall of the Bolt EV and EUV which forced the company to suspend production.

A plethora of new EVs are being readied by General Motors. These include an all-electric version of the Silverado pickup that was presented at CES 2022 and will hit the production line in 2023.
