The 2022 Toyota Land Cruiser GR Sport has started to reach the hands of customers in the Middle East and EKanoo Racing recently strapped one to the dyno to see what it is capable of.
Toyota offers the new Land Cruiser with two engine options. The first is a 3.5-liter twin-turbocharged V6 petrol engine rated at 409 hp and 479 lb-ft (650 Nm) of torque while the second is a 3.3-liter twin-turbo V6 diesel producing 304 hp and 516 lb-ft (700 Nm). While pushed to its limits on the dyno, the Land Cruiser delivered 274 hp and 473 lb-ft (641 Nm) of torque through all four wheels, right in line with what we would expect.
After the dyno run, EKanoo Racing headed out onto the street for some performance testing. It was able to record a best 0-60 mph (0-96 km/h) time of 7.26 seconds and run down the quarter-mile in 15.37 seconds at 88.81 mph (142.9 km/h), pretty impressive figures for a vehicle like this.
There’s a very good chance that EKanoo is planning a host of upgrades for the Land Cruiser. After all, the company has built some of the world’s quickest Porsche 911s, McLaren 720Ss, and Nissan GT-Rs and may very well look to build the world’s most accelerative Land Cruiser. Vehicles like the Land Cruiser are also very popular among tuners in the Middle East for wild engine swap projects, transforming them into monsters with over 1,000 hp.
