Jetour Motors, a member of the Chery Holding Group, introduced the X-1, a hybrid SUV incorporating a Level 3 autonomous driving system by tech-giant Huawei.
The new SUV model will be fitted with the latest advancements in terms of ADAS, using technology from Huawei. It will initially offer Level 3 autonomy – which means it will be fully autonomous in certain scenarios but will still input from the driver in an emergency – but the architecture will be compatible with up to Level 5 full autonomy for the future. It will also offer plenty of tech and connectivity inside the cabin, although Jetour has only published pictures of the exterior.

The Jetour X-1 is based on a brand new architecture developed by Chery that is called Kunlun. Unlike the current trend, the vehicle isn’t a BEV, as the brand opted for the “Kunpeng DHT” plug-in hybrid powertrain instead.
The X-1 will be available in front-wheel-drive and all-wheel-drive variants, reportedly combining a turbocharged 1.5-liter petrol engine with a couple of electric motors. While the combined output and the battery capacity are not known yet, as a PHEV, it will be able to drive on electric power alone while offering good performance in certain driving modes.

The Jetour X-1 looks similar to the mechanically-related Chery Omoda 5 that was unveiled last month, but it features unique panels including the “Transformers” style grille incorporating the main headlights. The profile – mostly shared with the Chery singling – is typical of a compact SUV with sculpted lines and subtle plastic cladding communicating a sporty character. At the back, the thin LED taillights are extending towards the fenders with a large diffuser covering most of the rear bumper.
According to Chery’s official website, the Jetour brand is represented in many markets outside China including countries of the Middle East and South America. Jetour’s current range consists exclusively of ICE-powered SUVs including the X70 and X90 models.
