Almost 40 years have passed since Walter Röhrl won the 1983 Monte Carlo rally at the wheel of a Lancia 037, the last RWD car to win a WRC title. Now the makers of the Italian model’s modern reincarnation Kimera Automobili are bringing the EVO37 in Monte Carlo Rally’s shakedown, to honor the 037’s iconic win.
The Kimera EVO37 will be wearing a special livery for the occasion, featuring Pirelli logos. The wrap which combines white, red, black, and yellow, was created to celebrate the 150 years of Pirelli as a tire manufacturer and its rally victories.

The crew will include Petter Solberg, WRC veteran, and 2003 WRC champion, alongside Mario Isola, Pirelli’s Head of Motorsport. After the shakedown and throughout the weekend, the car will be exhibited in Place du Casino de Monte-Carlo.
The 2022 Monte Carlo Rally scheduled for January 20-23 will mark the start of a new and electrified era for WRC. This years’ contestants for the WRC title include the Toyota GR Yaris Rally1, the Hyundai i20 N Rally1, and the M-Sport Ford Puma Rally1, all featuring hybrid powertrains.
For those who are not familiar with the Kimera EVO37, it is a limited-production supercar styled after the Lancia 037, priced from €480,000 ($545,000). It has carbon-fiber bodywork, Ohlins suspension, Brembo brakes, and a mid-mounted turbocharged and supercharged 2.1-liter four-cylinder engine producing more than 500 hp.
