Koenigsegg has welcomed in 2022 with a teaser of what appears to be a new model it is working on.

The Swedish automaker is currently building the Jesko and Regera and will soon begin production of the four-seat Gemera. It is clear that the vehicle shown in this darkened teaser image is none of these and given that the car has been teased 20 years after Koenigsegg first started customer deliveries of the CC8S, there is some speculation that it could be a homage to that model.

The silhouette of the car pictured is very similar to the various CC models built by Koenigsegg over the years, although it does appear to sport a set of modernized LED taillights. It also has a similar roofline to previous CC models.

In the Facebook post sharing the teaser, Koenigsegg added that its New Year’s resolution is “more ultimate performance through clever engineering and optimal design.”

Regardless of what Koenigsegg is planning, it is possible that it could share some technologies with the four-seat Gemera. This wild creation is driven by a 2.0-liter twin-turbocharged three-cylinder Freevalve engine that Koenigsegg developed in-house and churns out an impressive 600 hp and 442 lb-ft (600 Nm) of torque. The Gemera also features three electric motors that add 1,100 hp, resulting in a combined 1,700 hp and 2,581 lb-ft (3,500 Nm) of torque. While this powertrain won’t scream like that of the Koenigsegg Jesko, it should make the Gemera one of the fastest things on four wheels.
