Since its debut in 2017, the Lamborghini Urus has been the most successful model from Sant’Agata with over 16,000 sales in four years. While sales are still going strong with 5,021 units in 2021, Lamborghini will unveil a facelifted Urus this year. Prototypes of the model that could be reportedly be named the Urus Evo have been spied testing since early last year, but this time around the SUV was spied completely undisguised.
The matte black Urus prototype that was spotted near the Arctic Circle didn’t wear the usual camouflage, thus revealing minor visual tweaks. While not visible to the untrained eye, the front end is redesigned with slightly different intakes on the bumper and a new vented bonnet. The headlights could also feature new LED graphics although this prototype still has the old units.

The side view will largely remain unchanged, besides a new selection of wheel designs, slightly different fender add-ons, and new color options. The fender vent appears to be covered which could hide a new design. At the back, the Urus still looks fresh but the Evo will come with a new bumper. The tail-mounted inlets are different than in the current model while the lower part of the bumper has a larger diffuser and retains the quad exhaust pipes.
The most important changes in the facelifted Urus will be hiding under the skin. The SUV is allegedly getting a plug-in hybrid powertrain as part of Lamborghini’s electrification plan. A heavily rumored performance-focused variant with a combined output of up to 808 hp (602 kW / 819 PS) could mark a significant increase over the current ICE-powered Urus which makes 641 hp (478 kW / 650 PS) from a twin-turbo 4.0-liter V8.

The debut of the facelifted Urus is expected sometime in the coming months so it won’t be long before we get to see the official photos and read all about its specs. The electrified variant will likely follow in 2023, as Lamborghini CEO Stephan Winkelmann confirmed that this will be the year of the first hybrid Lamborghini.
Lamborghini’s entire range will be electrified by the end of 2024, including the successors of the Huracan and the Aventador model lines. As for the first fully electric model from Sant’Agata, this will likely arrive in 2027 or 2028.
