Following a last minute cancellation in 2021, the New York Auto Show is set to return from a two year hiatus on April 13th.
While there’s no word on what will be introduced at the event, organizers are promising “innovative new displays from dozens of car companies” as well as “hundreds of new 2022 and 2023 models.”
They’ll be joined by an electric vehicle test track, which will presumably allow consumers to experience a variety of new EVs. Attendees can also check out a new “Automotive Aftermarket Experience” as well as a new Micro Mobility Expo, which highlights last mile electric transportation.

We’ll learn more about the show in the coming months, but it will kick off with press days on April 13th and 14th. The show will then open to members of the public on April 15th and run through the 24th.
The show’s return is big news for New York as organizers noted the auto show is the state’s largest publicly attended consumer event. They added it “generates hundreds of millions of dollars in economic impact for the City and State.”
New York Auto Show President Mark Schienberg proclaimed, “We’re back!” He added, “In the past two years, there’s been so much change with new and exciting products, technology and advancements, and we can’t wait to again showcase the very best that the industry has to offer to potential car buyers throughout our area.”
While it’s nice to see major auto shows roaring back to life, it remains unclear how many automakers will be in attendance. Auto shows have been struggling for a while and even before the coronavirus brought the world to a halt, Audi, BMW and Mercedes announced plans to skip the 2020 New York Auto Show.
