Rolls-Royce announced the financial results for 2021 which was a record year in terms of sales. The British manufacturer sold 5,586 vehicles, which is the highest number in its 117-year history, marking a 49 percent increase compared to the COVID-struck 2020.
The company didn’t get into specifics but revealed that the most popular models were the Cullinan and the new-generation Ghost. There were all-time record sales in most regions around the world including major markets in China, North America, and Asia-Pacific, with orders for new vehicles extending into the third quarter of 2022.

There was a spike in customers’ interest for bespoke commissions like the Phantom Oribe co-created with Hermès, the Phantom Tempus and the Black Badge Wraith / Dawn Landspeed Collection. Last year was quite important for the Rolls‑Royce Coachbuild program, with the unveiling of the $28-million Boat Tail. Finally, the Provenance pre-owned program enjoyed a record year.
Torsten Müller-Ötvös, CEO of Rolls-Royce Motor Cars, admitted that 2021 was “a phenomenal year” for the company, congratulating the team for their effort. He added that factors contributing to the record were the first full year of availability for the new-generation Ghost, the launch of the Black Badge Ghost, and the increasing demand for Bespoke personalization. Last year the company also announced its first fully electric model, the Spectre, that is scheduled for a 2023 debut.
Over 2,000 people are currently employed by Rolls-Royce, with the Goodwood factory running at maximum capacity (two shifts), and 37 new apprentices getting ready to join the staff next year.
