The infamous Moose Test is a good measure of a car’s emergency cornering abilities, but some people find that it’s not all that relevant given how rare it is for a situation like it to happen. However, as one Tesla owner might have found out first-hand, it can certainly have its merits in the real world.
In the video, which as Teslarati notes, was filmed in China, the Tesla, a Model Y, can be seen driving normally down a highway. After a few seconds of that, a Honda CR-V can be seen pulling into the U-turn lane from the opposite side of the road. However, the CR-V’s driver must have misjudged the speed of oncoming traffic, as they immediately pulled out into the road right into the path of the Tesla.

Thankfully, the driver in the Tesla was incredibly quick to react. After quickly braking and finding out that wouldn’t work, the Model Y‘s owner slammed on the gas and cranked the steering wheel, rocketing the electric SUV out of the way and avoiding the Honda’s front bumper by a matter of inches.
However, he wasn’t done yet, as his evasive maneuver had just placed him into the path of a bus. Albeit an easier, more predictable dodge, the Tesla owner swerved out of the path of the bus and went on his way as normal.
In the end, this ordeal was essentially a real-life Moose Test, and had the Tesla not benefited from its rapid acceleration and low center of gravity, things could have turned out much worse for all the involved parties.
