If you’re living in Canada and you’re interested in the new Z, we have good news for you as Nissan has just opened up reservations alongside the electric Ariya.
The 2023 Ariya will be offered in six different trims, although the company still hasn’t revealed pricing. While that makes it hard to plunk down a $1,000 CAD deposit, the model will be available with 63 and 87 kWh battery packs that offer a range of up to 300 miles (482 km).
Front-wheel drive variants have outputs of 214 hp (160 kW / 217 PS) and 238 hp (178 kW / 241 PS). Customers can also upgrade to a dual-motor all-wheel drive system that has combined outputs of 335 hp (250 kW / 340 PS) and 389 hp (290 kW / 394 PS).

In terms of equipment, the entry-level Ariya Engage features LED lighting units and 19-inch alloy wheels. Buyers will also find a 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster and a 12.3-inch infotainment system with GPS navigation. They’re joined by an eight-way power driver’s seat, leatherette upholstery, heated front and rear seats, and a dual-zone automatic climate control system.
Other highlights include ProPILOT Assist and an assortment of safety features such as Automatic Emergency Braking with Pedestrian Detection, Blind Spot Warning, and Lane Departure Warning. The model also boasts Intelligent Lane Intervention, Rear Automatic Braking, and Rear Cross Traffic Alert.
2023 Nissan Z
The 2023 Nissan Z, on the other hand, is available in three trims including a special Proto Spec Edition that can only be reserved at dealerships.
The entry-level Z Sport features LED lighting units, a dual exhaust system, and 18-inch alloy wheels. Drivers will also find a digital instrument cluster and an 8-inch infotainment system with voice recognition technology as well as Android Auto and Apple CarPlay support.
Other highlights include a leather-wrapped steering wheel, a retro-inspired gauge pod, an automatic climate control system, and a six-speaker audio system. There’s also a tilt / telescopic steering column, a push-button ignition, intelligent cruise control, and an auto-dimming rearview mirror.
In terms of safety, buyers will find Predictive Forward Collision Warning and Intelligent Emergency Braking with Pedestrian and Cyclist Detection. There’s also Blind Spot Warning, Lane Departure Warning, and Rear Cross Traffic Alert.
The 2023 Nissan Z Performance lives up to its name as it features an upgraded braking system and a limited slip differential. The model also sports larger 19-inch alloy wheels and a rear spoiler.
The interior is also a bit more luxurious thanks to an eight-speaker Bose audio system and leather front seats with heating as well as four-way power adjustment. Other highlights include aluminum pedals and a universal garage door opener.
Regardless of which trim is selected, all Z’s feature a twin-turbo 3.0-liter V6 that develops 400 hp (298 kW / 406 PS) and 350 lb-ft (474 Nm) of torque. It can be paired to either a six-speed manual or a nine-speed automatic transmission.
Canadians can reserve their Z here for $1,000 CAD and the model is slated to be launched this spring (although delivery estimates say summer).
We asked Nissan if they were planning a similar reservation program for the United States, but were told a “pre-sale program is not planned for the 2023 Z” in America. As a result, fans should probably get in touch with their local dealership and hope for the best.
