If you like vehicles with insane levels of power that can do some pretty remarkable things, then the Tilal Swaihan Sand Drag Championship in Abu Dhabi could be right up your alley.
The event was recently covered by YouTuber CB Media and features a plethora of custom-built creations designed to be extraordinarily quick in a straight line. However, unlike the kind of drag racing that you’d be most accustomed to, this happens on sand. That means the cars have big off-road and sand tires to maximize grip – and, of course, they are also extremely powerful.

Like any traditional drag racing event, there are some slightly ‘tamer’ creations and some that are truly bonkers. On the tame end of the spectrum were a pair of sand racers powered by snowmobile engines that were each adorned with a huge turbocharger, allowing them to churn out no less than 700 hp. That’s a lot of power but it only begins to scratch the surface of the vehicles that were in attendance. Those on the hunt for more power opt for heavily-modified V8 engines. One of the racers featured has a twin-turbo, 454 cubic-inch LS V8 delivering 1,500 hp through the rear wheels.
Arguably the craziest car of the entire event is featured towards the end of the video. This creation pumps out no less than 4,000 hp (yes, you read that right) and has a pair of huge tires that allow it to dig into the sand and get off the line. When the driver pins the throttle, it accelerates so quickly that it truly boggles the mind and produces an absolutely insane sound.
