BMW announced that the vehicles it sells in the U.S. will come with two years of 30-minute complimentary charging sessions at all Electrify America locations across the country.
The program will launch with the arrival of the new iX xDrive50, the i4 eDrive40, and the i4 M50 in March. The deal adds no cost to the price of the vehicles and the two-year period starts at the time of purchase. Customers will have access to Electrify America’s more than 3,000 chargers across the country.
“The collaboration with Electrify America is one more step on our road towards a sustainable future,” said Sebastian Mackensen, president and CEO, BMW of North America. “Charging availability is a key feature when it comes to electric vehicles. We’re excited to offer our customers access to charging that is fast, affordable, and convenient, as we launch the next generation of all-electric from BMW.”

Electrify America operates America’s largest open network of ultra-fast chargers that are capable of delivering 150 kW to 350 kW. With that, the iX can recover up to 90 miles (145 km) of charge in 10 minutes, while the i4 can get as much 108 miles (174 km) in the same amount of time.
Owners will be able to find their nearest or most convenient charging station by using the myBMWapp or the Electrify America app. The apps will also allow drivers to determine if the chargers are available and receive instructions on how to get there.
“This is a very exciting time as more drivers are turning to e-mobility for their transportation needs to travel around town and across the country,” said Giovanni Palazzo, president and CEO of Electrify America. “Our coast-to-coast network of ultra-fast chargers is growing every week with more charging stations which are ready to welcome new owners of electric vehicles from BMW. We are delighted to collaborate with such a prestigious automotive brand.”
