Update: Lexus confirmed that U.S. deliveries of the new LX and NX are unaffected by the waiting lists in Japan. ” This does not impact the launch/delivery in the US. The NX and LX models have already begun arriving at dealers,” a spokesperson told Carscoops.
We already knew that the new 2022 Toyota Land Cruiser 300 series is in extremely high demand in Japan after the automaker recently notified customers that the wait for delivery has been stretched from two to a whopping four years, and now it’s doing the same for its more luxurious cousin, the 2022 Lexus LX.
On Friday, Toyota informed its Japanese customers that they’ll also need to wait four years to get their hands on the new generation Lexus LX full-sized SUV in a report listing the delivery times of a number of models for its home market. The report takes into account the industry-wide production delays as compared to each vehicle’s demand.
“If you purchase from now on, it may take about 4 years to deliver the car,” Lexus informed customers on its website. “We will consider efforts to shorten the delivery time to our customers as much as possible, and we appreciate your understanding.” However, the company also noted that this is “the outlook as of February 18” adding that it “may change depending on the production situation in the future”.
The new LX being sold out for four years is certainly something, but we can at least somewhat begin to understand it given how desirable the vehicle is. What’s a bit harder to understand, though, is that according to the same release, the new Lexus NX has a waiting list of over a year. A long waiting list for a more luxurious version of one of the most capable off-road SUVs on the market? We get it. For a run-of-the-mill family SUV? That’s a bit unusual.

As for Lexus’ other SUVs, the ever-popular RX has a waiting time of 5 months for the regular RX300, 4 months for the hybrid RX450h, and 3 months for the extended-wheelbase RX450hL. The subcompact UX has a waiting time of 4 months for the all-electric UX300e, but no information is provided on the UX200 and UX250h.
Regarding their cars, information is only provided for the LS sedan and CT hatchback. The former has a waiting time of 5 months for both the LS500 and LS500h, while the latter has a waiting time of 3 months for the CT200h. There is no information in the report on waiting times for the IS, ES, RC, or LC. Just like for the gas-powered UX variants, the document simply says to contact a dealer.
