Some incredible Subaru WRX STI models have been produced over the decades but none are more desirable (or iconic) than the 22B, built to celebrate the automaker’s World Rally Championship success.
By taking inspiration from this legendary model, Rain Prisk has imagined what a new-age 22B STI could look like if based around the latest-generation WRX, which hasn’t even been showcased in STI form.
The most significant alteration made to the WRX is the fact that it now has two doors rather than four. Much to our surprise, the 2022 WRX actually looks pretty good with two doors, although we think it could look even better if these doors were even longer.

Elsewhere, Rain Prisk has removed the controversial black fenders of the new model, instantly giving the new car a more seamless look. Further modifications made include the fitment of gold wheels not dissimilar to those of the original 22B and contrasting the blue paint perfectly. The car also has an elongated front splitter, extended side skirts, and a towering rear wing. Completing the look is a lowered ride height.
While the new Subaru WRX has faced some criticism for its exterior looks, it has been praised for the way it drives. Powering the new model is a 2.4-liter turbocharged four-cylinder engine with 271 hp and 258 lb-ft (350 Nm) of torque. This engine can be mated to either a six-speed manual transmission or a CVT.
