With a starting price of $69,995, the new 2022 Ford Bronco Raptor certainly isn’t cheap. However, compared to this heavily-modified 1979 Bronco that’s up for sale, the new model could be considered as a bit of a bargain.
This particular Bronco has been listed up for auction on Bring a Trailer and in 2021, was comprehensively refurbished and modified by Firehouse Vintage Vehicles in Statesville, North Carolina. With just a few days left in the auction, bidding had already exceeded the $100,000 mark.

Immediately catching the eye with this Bronco is the Raven Black paint that has been contrasted by Chromatic tape stripes to really make the exterior stand out. The off-roader also features a color-matched removable hardtop, chrome bumpers, and a set of forged 17-inch wheels wrapped in BFGoodrich All-Terrain T/A K02 tires.
The Bronco’s original powertrain has also been ditched and replaced with a 5.0-liter Coyote V8 also featuring a JLT Performance cold-air intake and tubular exhaust headers. There is also an aluminum radiator and a Vintage Air front runner kit. The V8 is paired with a six-speed automatic transmission and a dual-range transfer case that can drive the rear or all four wheels. Various other changes have been made, including beefed-up brakes and new suspension components.
Firehouse Vintage Vehicles has also overhauled the interior of the Bronco. The front and rear bench seats are dressed in red leather, which also extends across the door panels and dashboard. The Ford also rocks a roll bar, a climate control system from Fat Fender Garage, and a Kicker audio system.
The listing reveals that the Bronco has been driven just 45 miles (72 km) since the restoration was completed but the original mileage isn’t known.
